About Notion PRO Beta

We’re excited to launch our Notion PRO Beta program. Participation in the PRO Beta program will help shape Notion’s professional monitoring service before it becomes available to the public. Here’s what to expect:

Text/Phone Call Alerts

Take advantage of additional notification alerts like texts and phone calls for tasks you enable for professional monitoring.

New Features

Test out new features like critical alerts and arm/disarm reminders.

Time Requirements

Expect the program to last 4 or more weeks with feedback requested as you experience different features. You may opt-out from the program and it's features at anytime.

How PRO Beta Works

Your Notion system is made up of sensors. During installation, you assigned certain tasks to each sensor in your system. Now, you can choose whether each task is professionally monitored by toggling on/off professional monitoring under task settings.

Understanding the escalation process below will help you choose which tasks to professionally monitor and how to react. When a Notion Sensor detects certain activity on a professionally monitored task, an escalation begins. Based on the nature of the escalation, you decide what steps to take next.

Escalation notification timeline

This timeline shows the progression of notifications when an escalation occurs. You can clear an escalation at any time if no further action is required. Once the escalation is cleared, no additional notifications will be sent.

Alert

Our 3-step escalation process will send you a push notification, text message and a phone call when an escalation occurs. We'll also update the Home screen of your app to note an escalation is in progress.

Assess

First assess the situation. What sensor was triggered? Is anyone at home? Can a friend or neighbor check if you're not home?

Respond

Once you've assessed the situation, you can clear the escalation or call 911 for assistance.

Understanding PRO Professionally Monitored Tasks

When a sensor is triggered, if a task is not professionally monitored, you will be sent push notifications only. If a task is professionally monitored, it will provide critical alerts, text messages and phone calls.

To help choose which tasks to enable for professional monitoring, it's important to understand which tasks are eligible for PRO professional monitoring and what happens when a task enabled for PRO triggers (since some tasks require arming for an escalation to occur):

During an escalation, Notion will not initiate contact with local emergency services. Please contact 911 for assistance.

Our handy chart below shows what tasks are eligible for PRO professional monitoring and whether the sensor needs to be armed in order to receive escalated alerts, which include text messages and phone calls. Remember, you can toggle on/off professional monitoring for tasks at any time!

Enabling Tasks for PRO Beta

1. Open the Notion App
2. Tap the gear icon "⚙" in the top right corner of your professional monitoring overview
3. Toggle on/off the tasks you want to be monitored professionally

Arming & Disarming Your System

If you enable any door, window, or garage door tasks for PRO professional monitoring, be sure to arm your system when you want those tasks to be professionally monitored by tapping the button on your Home screen.

Customization & Features

Don't miss an escalation - your phone's critical alerts setting allows us to reach you when an escalation is in progress. Enabling this feature allows notifications from Notion to play a sound and to appear on your lock screen - even if your phone is muted or on Do Not Disturb.

To change phone settings to allow critical/urgent alerts:

1. Open the Notion App

2. Tap “System” from the bottom menu

3. Under “Your Plan” click into Notion PRO

4. Tap “Enable Notion PRO Alerts Override”

5. Toggle on/off the notification settings

Get reminders to arm and disarm your system as you come and go. You'll need to allow location permissions in your phone settings to turn on this feature.

To change phone settings to allow arm & disarm reminders:

1. Open the Notion App

2. Tap “System” from the bottom menu

3. Under “Your Plan” click into Notion PRO

4. Tap “Enable Arm & Disarm Reminders ”

5. Toggle on/off the notification settings

Here's how Notion works

Arm/Disarm

Tap the button with the shield in it to arm and disarm your system. Refer to our chart to understand when tasks are escalated when your system is armed/disarmed. Your Home screen will only display an arm/disarm button when you enable doors or windows to be professionally monitored.

Professional Monitoring Overview

Quickly view how many tasks are being professionally monitored and will escalate if an event occurs. This number may change as you arm/disarm your system.

Informational Tips

We'll occasionally show you a tip (like how to turn on arm & disarm reminders) to help you get the most out of PRO Beta.

Task Icons and Shields

Quickly view what tasks have professional monitoring enabled and if they are being escalated.

Yellow Icon & Solid Yellow Shield

This task is PRO enabled and will escalate if triggered.

White Icon

This task is not PRO enabled.

Yellow Icon & Transparent Shield

This task is PRO enabled but will not escalate. Upon arming your system, the shield will turn yellow signifying the task will escalate if triggered.
